Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology (as it was then known) was established in 1991 by founder and namesake Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing.[3] Its first campus consisted of a few bungalows in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.

The institute formed relationships with universities and colleges in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. At the same time, the institute forged links with industry to provide direction and support.

Collaborating with industry gave opportunities for students to engage in real work experience. In 2002 the institute became the first private college to be recognized as a University College.[3]

In 2006 Limkokwing set up a campus in Botswana’s capital city of Gaborone which was officially opened in May 2007 by former president of Botswana, the Hon. Festus Mogae.

The university’s London campus was opened in Piccadilly in October 2007. The campus was officially opened by the Malaysian former prime minister, YABhg Tun Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi. Limkokwing established its second campus in Africa in Maseru, Lesotho.

In Asia the university is set up in Indonesia, Cambodia and China.Untitled-3
